| 1. How did you get started with all of this?
In 1990, we did a Spring clean-up in my Dad's 1912 barbershop. Amongst the numerous barbershop memorabilia, mid 1950's newspapers and early local area photos that we came across, we found a silver-foiled box with a piece of black soap inside. On the front of the box it said “Pine Tar Soap” . On the back of the box it read that since 1869, this soap had been recommended by many doctors as a shampoo and complexion soap helpful in many minor skin and scalp troubles.
My Dad at the time, had customers that would regularly ask his advice on what they could use to relieve them of their skin and scalp conditions. Up until re-discovering the tree essence, he could not recommend a product that he felt completely comfortable with. Having researched and validated the benefits of these essences, we were excited to pursue this formulating adventure. Having completed our first shampoo and skin cream sample, four months after our initial harvest, we handed out samples to those inquiring customers. Amazingly, within 7 days of using the samples, their skin conditions cleared up. As more samples were handed out to other customers, more positive feed back came in. That's when we decided to create BOTANICAL THERAPEUTIC.

2. Do your products contain any Hydrocortisone or Steroids?
No, none what so ever. Botanical Tree Essence has replaced these potentially harmful synthetic ingredients because it has proven to be a much healthier and more effective organic alternative.

3. What is Botanical Tree Essence?
Botanical tree essence is the sap, pitch, or juice that naturally extrudes from various openings, folds, and knots of trees. From early Spring to late Summer, the trees go through what we call a “weeping” process, in which the tree roots push the sap, stored during Winter, up into the Cambian layer of the tree. This layer is located between the bark and the true wood of the tree. This “weeping” process occurs as a defence mechanism to ward off bug infestation. For example, as a bug burrows or finds its way to the vulnerable part of the tree, the sap drips and oozes over the intruder, immobilizing and suffocating them in a tomb of sap. During this time of year, there is an overabundance of “weeping” that occurs. Year upon year, this excess sap collects and dries on the outsides of the tree trunk.

4. How do you harvest the essence from the tree and does it endanger the life of the tree?
Towards the end of the “weeping” season is the point in time when we at the Carina Corporation begin to harvest. It takes a little longer to harvest the sap than the modern conventional ways of tapping or ripping the tree apart, but the wait is well worth it. Our old fashion methods allow us to simply pull or lightly scrape off these dried clumps of sap, which allows the trees to remain unharmed, and in perfect health to produce more essence for years to come.

6. Why does the tree essence work so well and so quickly in relieving skin and scalp problems?
Tree essences have 5 very special benefits that compliment its composition. It disinfects, it has anti-bacterial properties, anti-fungal properties, self-preserving properties, and it has an extremely high and quick therapeutic healing effect. This amazing combination of attributes makes it the single most important ingredient in every one of our formulations. Especially, our skin cream because within 17 seconds, it actually liquefies with the warmth of the skin. By liquefying, it makes it easier for the tree essence and the other nutrients to absorb deep down to the skin’s lower layers, called the Hypodermis layer.

7. What type of skin conditions respond best to the healing properties of tree essences?

8. Are your products safe to use on children?
Yes. It is extremely effective on Cradle Cap, which is most common on newborns and infants. However, regardless of age, we recommend that a spot test be done on a small area of the skin, like the inside of the arm. This will help to see if the user is allergic to any of the ingredients in the product.
