Most skin creams absorb only to the base of the Epidermis layer. For dry skin this type of absorption is adequate as it replenishes moisture to the top, dry surface. Mild to severe skin and scalp problems lie deeper in the Dermis and Subcutaneous Fatty Tissue layers. They can be hereditary or triggered by stress, changes in diet, and changes in climate which cause the nerve endings, nerve fibres, arrector pili muscles, dermal papilla, oil glands, blood vessels and lymph vessels to become irritated, itchy, red and inflamed. In order to control these problems, Cortisone shots are usually administered to relieve the discomfort. A needle provides a direct path deep into the Dermis and Subcutaneous Fatty Tissue layers.
